Ollie Douma was born and raised in Southwestern Ontario. As a child she began drawing cartoon characters and later branched out into portraits of people and animals as well as seacoast scenes and lighthouses. She currently paints on rocks, slate, wood, canvas , furniture and more recently on turkey, goose and seagull feathers.
On occasion she also paints murals and at Christmas she does store and private home windows.
Most of her work is done using acrylics , but,  at times she also uses pencil, charcoal, ink, and oil and may even combine these mediums at times for some very unusual effects.
In 2006 she and her husband moved to Nova Scotia's eastern shore to retire and at that time she joined the Seacoast Trails Art Association. In 2008 they returned to Ontario for family reasons but missing the ocean and the eastern shore they returned in the fall of 2015 and is now residing in Moosehead N.S. She has picked up where she left off and is enjoying living by the ocean and painting again as well as knitting dolls and baby things.

Ollie also taught calligraphy for 12 years at night school in Ontario and has had two books of poetry published.   "Of Interest to Me "  and "Thoughts of Mine Etched in Time" .
